| THREE men who were involved in a gang attack on a man in Orchard Towers last Nov were sentenced to jail and caning in a district court on Thursday.
They were in a gang of six that assaulted Mr Suhaimi Sulong, 37, on Nov 23 after the latter asked if they wanted oral sex. Mr Suhaimi was taken unconscious to the Singapore General Hospital where he died an hour later from head and neck injuries. That evening, Helmi Abdul Rahim, 28, had thrown a can of beer and later kicked Suhaimi in the head, while Muhammad Sufian Zainal, 21, kicked and punched him. They were each jailed four years and received six strokes of the cane. Ahmad Nur Helmy Ahmad Hamdan, 20, who triggered the brutal attack and rained blows onto Suhaimi was jailed 4 1/2 years. He also received eight strokes of the cane. The other three men were sentenced last week to time in the reformative training centre. | |
