| SINGAPORE restaurant Iggy's is the best in Asia, according to the inaugural Miele Guide which was launched last night at a gala dinner at The Grand Hyatt Singapore.
The 144-page restaurant guide ranks Asia's top 20 restaurants and lists 200 of the best restaurants in 16 Asian countries. Four restaurants in Singapore made it to the top 20 list, including Les Amis, Gunther's and Garibaldi, which were placed third, fourth and seventh respectively. Said Mr Ignatius Chan, 45, owner of Iggy's which is located at The Regent Singapore: 'We had hoped to be in the top 20 but didn't expect to be in the top 5.' 'It is an honour that will inspire me and my team to work harder to stay in next year's guide.' Other top-ranked restaurants include Hong Kong's L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in second place and Bali's Mozaic restaurant in fifth position. Hong Kong has the most restaurants in the list: eight. The others are Yung Kee, Hutong, Caprice, Zuma, Grissini, Nobu, and Fook Lam Moon. Read the full story in Saturday's edition of The Straits Times. | |
