Things fall apart
THE second Singapore Biennale is proving to be a hit, with visitors praising its unique artworks which they say are easy to relate to.

To date, 325,000 people have gone to see the show, which started on Sept 11.

There are features 137 artworks by 66 artists and art collectives on show in three main venues - City Hall, South Beach Development and the Central Promontory Site.

The National Arts Council, which organises the Biennale, is confident it will meet the 500,000 visitorship target it has set by the time the eight-week contemporary art show ends on Nov 16.

To keep track of visitor numbers, volunteers at each venue stand at the entrance and click on a ticker whenever someone enters. The numbers are noted down in logbooks.

Unless there is a stampede to the three venues in the last two weeks of the show, the final tally will fall short of the 883,300 visitors who took in the inaugural Singapore Biennale in 2006.
