Fine for setting off sparklers
By Sujin Thomas
TWO men who were celebrating the end of their examinations by setting off sparklers last August were each fined $200 in a district court on Wednesday.

According to court documents, Muhammad Al Fadhil Idris, 24, and his friend Nur Sulnahirwin Suleiman, 28, met up in Bukit Panjang after their exams on Aug 22 last year.

They decided to construct a rocket using sparklers and went to a nearby provision shop to buy six boxes of sparklers.

Later that day, they went to an open field in front of Block 484 Segar Road.

Sulnahirwin then ignited the sparklers, which were bound with duct tape, using a cigarette lighter and they exploded with a loud bang.

No one was injured in the incident.
