FOUR men who stole handphones and cash from a mobile phone stall owner in Geylang were caught on Wednesday. The victim, in his early 30s, left his stall unattended when he went to the rescue of another man who was being beaten up by the four men. The gang then turned on him, forcing him to flee to a nearby coffeeshop. The four men took the opportunity to grab a paper bag containing 33 handphones and cash amounting to about $7,000 from the unattended stall and got away in a Comfort taxi. The stall owner alerted the police. With the help of ComfortDelgro taxi company, they tracked down the suspects and arrested them at 5.45 am. All the stolen items were recovered. The four suspects, aged between 20 and 36, will be charged in court on Wednesday. | |
