Worker sacked over train chaos

| Long-time employee's action led to 7-hour service disruption | |
| TRANSPORT operator SMRT Corp has sacked a worker for his part in a seven-hour service disruption in January.
Two others have been suspended over the incident, which happened at 3.10am on Jan21, when two maintenance vehicles collided on the track. The section of the track between the Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris stations was unpassable during the rush hour later that Monday morning as a result. SMRT managed to clear it only at 12.45pm that day.
