At about 12.45pm on Sunday, a four-car pile-up happened along Buangkok Green Road. No one was injured.

Less than an hour later, as two traffic police officers were attending to the drivers at the scene, another accident took place along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, just 100m away from the first accident site.

The second accident was a hit-and-run involving a car, a taxi and a pedestrian.

After hitting the rear of the taxi and pedestrian, the driver of the car got out and tried to flee the scene.

But he only made it as far as the foot of a nearby block, about 200m away, before he was pinned down by two passers-by who had given chase.

He was then arrested by the traffic police officers who were attending to the earlier accident.
