GOLDSMITH shops like Poh Heng Jewellery used to line the streets of post-war Singapore, taking centre stage in places like Arab Street, Chinatown and Little India. But these days, the trade is widely seen as a sunset business, slowly losing its shine from a once-glittering business to trendier, more accessible retail stores. Yet Poh Heng - one of Singapore's oldest names in the gold game - heads into its 60th year of business defying the ranks of pessimists. Read Francis's full story in Wednesday's edition of The Straits Times. | |
