Sold on gold
One of the oldest jewellers here, Poh Heng still shines despite turning 60, with solid results

GOLDSMITH shops like Poh Heng Jewellery used to line the streets of post-war Singapore, taking centre stage in places like Arab Street, Chinatown and Little India.

But these days, the trade is widely seen as a sunset business, slowly losing its shine from a once-glittering business to trendier, more accessible retail stores.

Yet Poh Heng - one of Singapore's oldest names in the gold game - heads into its 60th year of business defying the ranks of pessimists.
