The bold move meant converting the three bedrooms of the 1,700 sq ft apartment into just one. It sounds drastic but is sometimes done by home owners to get the spacious look they desire.

The 46-year-old, who is the founder of Aamer Architects, is no stranger to creating spaces with that wow factor: He designed the interiors of hip eateries such as Oosh and PS Cafe, both at Dempsey.

Mr Taher, a Singaporean, describes his own home at Sunset Way in Clementi as a 'clever recreation of space'.

The fourth-floor apartment, which he bought unrenovated for $800,000 in 2005, has unobstructed views of lush greenery.

The bachelor says of the design he came up with: 'I was greatly inspired by the view and removed the walls that would have otherwise obstructed it.'
