Jamuna to return for surgery

| Surviving Nepalese conjoined twin will be back here to see if her skull can be rebuilt | |

JAMUNA, the surviving Nepalese conjoined twin, will be in Singapore next month for doctors to finish what they started in 2001 when they separated her from her sister Ganga. Joined at the head, the twins were left without a protective cover for their brain when they were separated. What should have been the skull is only a thin layer of skin, the size of a palm, at the top of their heads. Ganga died on July 29 when her lungs collapsed. Dr Keith Goh, the lead surgeon in the operation and who has been tending to the twins since their separation, intends to bring Jamuna over to see how he can start work on a cranioplasty, or the rebuilding of the skull.
