Indonesia'a warning to G20
| LONDON - INDONESIAN President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on G-20 leaders not to ignore developing nations in their efforts to alleviate the global financial crisis.
Speaking at the London School of Economics on Tuesday ahead of this week's summit, Mr Yudhoyono has warned that the world will not recover if wealthy countries retreat into protectionism. He says that emerging economies have the most to lose after working hard to build up their economies and institutions and that they should not be 'punished or left to suffer.' He also says that the IMF and World Bank need greater flexibility and resources more quickly to do their jobs. Mr Yudhoyono will join leaders from the world's richest and major developing countries for talks on Wednesday and Thursday. -- AP | |
