50 hurt in X'mas party collapse
| MANILA - POLICE say at least 50 employees of a garment trading company were hurt when the floor of a resort built collapsed during a Christmas party in the central Philippines.
Senior Police Officer Landolfo Acita said the cement floor of the cottage cracked during the party on Sunday, sending the mostly female revelers crashing down into the fish pond below. Mr Acita says the bungalow was filled beyond capacity in the city of Cadiz. The reservation was only for 50 people but more than 200 showed up. He says the victims were brought to hospitals, but no one was seriously hurt. Mr Acita said on Monday the resort owner paid the victims' hospital bills and no charges are expected. -- AP | |
