More at risk from landslides

| KUALA LUMPUR - THE Selangor government has identified 15 areas within the Ampang area, including Bukit Antarabangsa, that is at risk from landslides.
Based on the preliminary findings of a state government study, four other districts in Selangor were also vulnerable: Ulu Selangor, Ulu Langat, Petaling and Gombak. The full study would be made be made public in a month's time, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said. On Saturday, 2,000 of the more than 3,000 residents who had to evacuate from the landslide-hit area of Bukit Antarabangsa were given the green light to return home, a decision based on the geo-technical findings by the Public Works Department (JKR) and Ikram. Meanwhile, Mr Khalid said all 268 families affected by the Dec 6 Bukit Antarabangsa landslide will receive aid from the state government. -- THE STAR | |
