Bus plunges into river, 2 hurt

SETIU ( Malaysia) - AN EXPRESS bus plunged into a river after the bus driver accidentally entered a dead end while on his way to Kota Baru from Malacca.

Fortunately, only two out of 14 aboard the bus were injured in the incident at Kampung Balik Bukit at 6am on Sunday.

The injured were the 53-year-old driver Ruslan Abdul Patah who fractured his left leg, while passenger Mohamad Hafiz Mohd, 14, sustained minor injuries.

District traffic chief C/Insp Hazmi Husin said the driver is believed to have become confused when the bus reached a junction which was under construction.

He said the driver then took a wrong turn and lost control of the vehicle when he reached the dead end; he attempted to swerve the bus but instead plunged it into the river.
