| SINGAPORE shares closed 5.75 per cent higher on Tuesday on hopes a massive US government stimulus package would help revive the world's largest economy, dealers said.
The benchmark Straits Times Index rose 95.41 points to 1,754.58 from Friday's close of 1,659.17. Local markets were closed on Monday for a public holiday. About 1.4 billion shares exchanged hands. Gainers beat losers 334 to 125. -- AFP | |
