Mr Brown's office says that French President Nicolas Sarkozy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will attend the event in London.

The leaders will hold talks with business representatives and economists from across Europe. Officials say it will allow the leaders to canvass opinion from Europe's business sector.

Mr Brown's office said on Thursday that the meeting is intended to help discussion ahead of a European Council summit in Brussels, Belgium.

The mini-summit will take place on Monday. -- AP
