German Boerse chief quits
| FRANKFURT - KURT Viermetz will step down as chairman of Deutsche Boerse as of Dec 8, the operator of the Frankfurt stock exchange said on Sunday.
'Thereupon his membership in the supervisory board and at the same time his office as chairman of the supervisory board will terminate as of the end of the date when the next ordinary supervisory board meeting of Deutsche Boerse AG will take place,' the company said in a statement. It gave no reason for the move, which follows Mr Viermetz's resignation this month as chairman of German lender Hypo Real Estate , which had to be rescued in a government-led bailout. Activist shareholders had been trying to force Mr Viermetz out at Deutsche Boerse. -- REUTERS | |
