World leaders to meet 'soon'
|
|
LONDON - WORLD leaders will meet 'soon' over the international financial crisis, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Wednesday, shortly after a coordinated interest rate cut by many central banks. Addressing lawmakers, Mr Brown said that after speaking with US President George W. Bush on Tuesday, he thought 'that we will have an international leaders' meeting soon to look at what we can do together'. He did not give details of which leaders would attend the meeting, or of its location or timing. His Downing Street office did not immediately respond to a request for more information. Mr Brown's comments came shortly after central banks around the world launched co-ordinated action to cut interest rates, and after Britain revealed details of a rescue and part-nationalisation of the country's banks. -- AFP | |
