Citigroup: No S'pore layoffs
CITIGROUP said on Thursday it had no plans to cut staff in Singapore, denying a report in a local newspaper.

'There are no specific plans to lay off staff in Singapore,' Citi Singapore's head of corporate affairs Adam Rahman told Reuters in an email.

'While there may be some attrition from time to time due to the regular review of the business and our continued focus on improving efficiency and productivity, our total workforce remains stable as we continue to hire talent and invest in expanding our business,' he added.

The Straits Times reported on Thursday that Citigroup was planning to lay off as many as 200 people in Singapore, citing sources in the bank.

The cuts would be from the information technology department which employs about 2,000 of the 9,000 Citigroup employees in Singapore, the paper said. -- REUTERS
