Winehouse needs rescue
LONDON - THE mother of singer Amy Winehouse says her troubled daughter needs to be rescued.

In an interview due to be broadcast Wednesday by Britain's ITV News, Janis Winehouse says 'Amy is in denial all the time' and is trapped by her addictions.

The 25-year-old's drug problems have been highly publicised and the soul diva has been in and out of rehab.

In the ITV interview her father, Mitch, says Winehouse is on a drug replacement program but continues to drink.

He says he has been powerless to change her behaviour.

Snippets of the interview were shown on Tuesday night on ITV. It was not immediately clear when the interview was conducted.

An e-mail sent late on Tuesday to Winehouse's representative was not immediately returned. -- AP
