Kris Allen inks deal

LOS ANGELES - AMERICAN Idol Kris Allen has signed a record deal with producer 19 Recordings, and his debut album is expected to be released in autumn through Jive Records. 'Everyone's been asking me what it's going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show - definitely in the pop/rock genre,' he said in a statement on Monday. The 23-year-old, who will perform in the 50-city American Idol 2009 Summer Tour from next month, is already enjoying success. His song No Boundaries is No. 23 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart. On Sunday, he sang the American national anthem at a game of the Lakers-Magic NBA championship series, drawing an ovation from the crowd, which included Rihanna and Leonardo DiCaprio. Meanwhile, runner-up Adam Lambert, 27, on Sunday responded to questions about his sexuality by saying 'all your questions will be answered' in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone. 'The article is gonna answer all those questions everybody has been asking. Once and for all,' he told E! Online at the Young Hollywood Awards in Santa Monica where he received an Artist of the Year award. He will reportedly appear in a cover story next week for the magazine. 'At this point, I think everybody knows everything, but once the Rolling Stone article comes out, people will know everything,' he said, sporting his trademark guyliner and nail-polish look. Asked about his 'celeb crush' - photos of him with interior designer Drake LaBry appeared online recently - he said he would plead 'the Fifth on that'. Allen, who was also at the event, told reporters: 'I support (Lambert) in whatever he does.' -- REUTERS | |
