| NEW YORK - The new war movie from Quentin Tarantino is sure to please lovers of blood-spattered gore-fests said a report in the New York Post newspaper.
Inglourious Basterds sees hundreds of Nazis killed in the most macabre ways possible said Tarantino. "If you thought Nazis died in The Dirty Dozen, brother, you ain't seen nothing yet," said film critic Harry Knowles. "There are a (bleep) load of Nazis dying. Seriously." Staring current Oscar favourite Brad Pitt alongside Mike Myers, Samuel L. Jackson, Diane Kruger, Cloris Leachman and Rod Taylor, the film follows a group of rough Jewish 'boys' out to collect 100 Nazi scalps each said the critic. Starting out as a broad comedy, the film segues into outright horror with Nazi's being hit with baseball bats and machine-gunned in huge numbers. According to the report, an insider said: 'The Nazis really get their comeuppance. It's a big change from all the downbeat Holocaust films over the holidays." In an interview with industry magazine Empire, Tarantino said that one scene resemble's his cult hit film Reservoir Dogs but with Nazis. "The Basterds are acting like the Apaches in a no-win situation," he said. The film will debut at Cannes Film Festival. -- New York Post | |
