Search on for fashion talent
LOCAL drama company TheatreWorks is putting the spotlight on Singapore's budding fashion talent. The experimental company is known for working across artistic disciplines and has fashion designer Jonathan Seow of lauded label Woods & Woods as its creative-in-residence.

Now, it is offering a project in which six aspiring fashion designers will be chosen to work with Seow, 31, on an art and fashion exhibition with a difference.

The brief: to use old and second-hand clothes in new ways.

Tay Tong, 44, managing director of TheatreWorks, says: 'The theme of this project is to relook the design scene in Singapore and to offer a different perspective which will breathe new life into the scene.

'It is to look at existing designs and give them a new take, marrying the past and present in contemporary fashion.'

Each designer will propose a collection of three outfits, which can be ready- to-wear clothing and accessories for men or women.

It will be showcased at a 10-day exhibition titled Resuscitation to be held from March 20 at TheatreWorks' home, a converted warehouse space called 72-13, along Mohammed Sultan Road.

Those interested can submit their portfolios in person there on Jan 24, when they will have a interview with Seow.
