Rolling good times

HOLLYWOOD'S latest war come- dy-action vehicle, Tropic Thunder, stars A-listers Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr, plus a long roster of cameos from Tobey Maguire to Nick Nolte to Tom Cruise. But no one seems to be taking it very seriously, least of all the stars themselves.

'I'm going to do this famous story about Siamese twins,' Downey announces at a press conference in London.

'I'm going to direct Ben. We're working on a prosthetic head, he's gonna play both. It's like The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, except two buttons. And I'll be getting two Oscars,' he continues.

Black adds here: 'Best Actor for the first head, Best Supporting for second.'

If this slacker play at The Claridges Hotel last month is anything to go by, expect the same silliness in Tropic Thunder, which opens in Singapore tomorrow. .

Co-written by Stiller and Justin Theroux, directed by Stiller (who also acts), the US$150-million (S$221.9-million) film-within-a-film packs enough cross- and self-references to make any pop culture fanatic's head spin.
