| THREE photographers with very different styles will come together at the National Museum of Singapore for its inaugural photography showcase, The Season Of Photography.
It is the museum's largest photo exhibition yet, with a total of 183 works to be shown from now till January. It features still and moving images from Taiwanese documentarian Chang Chien-Chi, Mexican technology-artist Pedro Meyer and American theatre director Robert Wilson. Chang, 47, from prestigious photo agency, Magnum, is a photojournalist who lives with his subjects for months to gain intimate access. Double-ness, which is on at the National Museum from tomorrow to Jan 4, is his biggest exhibition to date. The 130 photographs on show are from three works. China Town captures the living conditions of illegal immigrants in New York. Double Happiness chronicles the transactions of Vietnamese bride agencies, and The Chain shows pairs of mentally challenged inmates at a Taiwanese chicken farm. In contrast to Chang's strict realism, Meyer, 73, digitally manipulates his photographs, but says it is no different to the editing process in documentary work. His exhibition, Heresies, which captures the daily life and culture in the United States and Mexico, opened across 60 museums worldwide at the same time last Tuesday.
