UNREST IN XINJIANG
Night curfew in Urumqi

URUMQI (China) - AUTHORITIES will impose a curfew for Tuesday night in the capital of China's Xinjiang region amid violent unrest here, state media reported.

The curfew in Urumqi city will involve 'traffic controls' from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am, Xinhua news agency quoted Xinjiang Communist Party secretary Wang Lequan as saying.

It is aimed at 'avoiding further chaos' amid the unrest, Mr Wang said, according to Xinhua.
