Large quake jolts Japan
TOKYO - AN EARTHQUAKE with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 jolted northern Japan at 8.17am (7.17am Singapore time) on Thursday, a government agency said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning was issued after the quake, which the Japan Meteorological Agency said on its website (www.jma.go.jp) was centred off the north-east coast of Honshu island. -- REUTERS
