Dalai Lama calls Tibet meeting
| DHARMSALA (India) - THE Dalai Lama has called a special meeting of Tibetan exiles to discuss the future of their struggle.
Mr Karma Choephal said on Tuesday the meeting will be attended by representatives of all Tibetan exile groups. He said on Tuesday the meeting will take place over five days and is scheduled for mid-Nov. Mr Choephal is the speaker of the self-declared Tibetan government-in-exile. The meeting comes after the Dalai Lama told Tibetans on Saturday that he has given up trying to persuade Beijing to allow Tibet greater autonomy under Chinese rule, and he was now asking Tibetans to decide how to take the dialogue forward. -- AP | |
