Stop touting, but let minibus operators advertise services on Sentosa
THE Sentosa management and Land Transport Authority should look into ways to facilitate the services offered by minibus operators ("Minibus owners touting on Sentosa"; last Saturday).
The aim should be to provide visitors with access to additional transportation options, while ensuring that they are not harassed.
There is clearly a demand for such services in this "willing seller, willing buyer" market.
If guests are willing to pay $10 for a seat on such buses, they must surely be frustrated with the long wait at the Beach Station taxi stand.
These long taxi queues do not gel with the positive guest experience touted by the Sentosa management.
Perhaps Sentosa can set up a system to allow minibus operators to advertise their services without harassing visitors.
There will still be a demand for taxis, while minibus drivers can obtain business, and visitors can leave the island with happy memories. It will be a win-win situation for all.
