Who's who on the Founders' Memorial panel
A look at who's who on the 15-member committee tasked with coming up with the concept of a memorial to honour Singapore's founding leaders:
Mr Lee Tzu Yang, 60, Chairman, The Esplanade
Mr Lee, who retired as chairman of Shell companies in Singapore last year, also chairs the Workplace Safety and Health Council, Casino Regulatory Authority and the Middle East Institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
He is a member of the Council of Presidential Advisers and the Legal Service Commission.
Ms Lina Chong, 37, Assistant director for student affairs, Nanyang Polytechnic
Ms Chong, a staunch supporter of community and youth development projects, was conferred the Asean Youth Award in 2011 for helping schools to train students in community service and leadership.
She also serves on the SG50 steering committee, among other panels.
Professor Lily Kong, 50, Vice-provost for academic personnel, NUS
Prof Kong's research areas include religion, globalisation and national identities, cultural policy and cultural economics.
She will be provost of Singapore Management University in September.
Ms Kuik Shiao-Yin, 37, Nominated MP
Ms Kuik is a co-founder of The Thought Collective, a group of social enterprises.
Ms Lee Huay Leng, 44, Adjunct assistant professor of Chinese studies at NUS; editor of evening daily Lianhe Wanbao
Ms Lee has a two-decade-long career as a journalist, serving in various roles in Chinese broadsheet Lianhe Zaobao before becoming Lianhe Wanbao editor last year. She also sits on the board of the National Museum and the National Environment Agency, among others.
Mr Ong Keau, 62, Director of administration at the National Trades Union Congress administration and research unit
The veteran unionist joined the labour movement in 1978. He played a key role in pushing for the progressive wage model to be implemented in the electronics and precision engineering sector.
Madam Dolly Par, Chairman of Cashew Senja community club management committee
Madam Par is director of human resources at property and building materials firm Solid Resources, and has served as residents' committee chairman for three terms.
Mr Gopinath Pillai, 77, Ambassador-at-large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Mr Pillai, who has served as non-resident ambassador to Iran and High Commissioner to Pakistan, is chairman of the Institute of South Asian Studies.
Ms Druga Rajendran, 23, Research assistant, NUS Business School
Ms Druga, who will graduate from NUS this month with a degree in business administration, is an active youth mentor with various self-help groups.
Mr Timothy James de Souza, 67, Member of People's Association board and the Presidential Councilfor Minority Rights
Mr de Souza is a retired lieutenant-colonel whose involvement in community service began in 1989 with the Eurasian Association.
He is also chairman of the Pioneer Generation Appeals Panel, which reviews appeals from Singaporeans seeking pioneer status.
Mr Sidek Saniff, 77, Former senior minister of state for education and environment
Mr Sidek, who was MP from 1976 to 2001 and founding member of Malay/Muslim self-help group Mendaki, delivered an eulogy at the funeral of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Mr Tai Lee Siang, 51, Group managing director of architectural firm Ong and Ong Group
Mr Tai was president of the Singapore Institute of Architects from 2007 to 2009, and president of the Singapore Green Building Council from 2011 to 2012.
Mr Tan Aik Hock, 46, Chairman of the Singapore Lam Ann Association
As association chairman, Mr Tan oversaw the restoration of the 178-year-old Hong San See Temple in Mohamed Sultan Road, which received a heritage award from Unesco in 2010.
He is also a member of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among other associations.
Mr Zahidi Abdul Rahman, 54, President, Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Mr Zahidi runs his own architectural practice, Zahidi A.R. Arkitek, which he started in 1992. He is a member of the National Heritage Board and Media Development Authority of Singapore.
Madam Haslinda Zamani, 41, Principal, Tanjong Katong Secondary School
Madam Haslinda has served on committees like the Esplanade Board of Directors (2008 - 2009), and the Mendaki Education Review task force since last year.
