SINGAPORE - People's Action Party (PAP) incumbent Grace Fu, 51, has retained Yuhua SMC with 73.5 per cent of the vote.

She beat Singapore Democratic Party candidate Jaslyn Go, 43, who got 26.5 per cent.

Ms Fu defeated an SDP candidate in the 2011 election with 66.86 per cent of the vote.

The ward has had a female MP since 1984. Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon represented the ward until 2006, followed by Ms Fu, a Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.

Yuhua was a single-seat constituency until 1997, when it was absorbed into the now-defunct Bukit Timah GRC. It became part of Jurong GRC from 2001 to 2011, when it wascarved out as a single-seat ward.

The ward has seen a history of contests pitting two women against each other.
