SINGAPORE - The excitement of Polling Day was translated on social media, with Twitter proving to be a fertile ground for online chatter as the drama of the 2015 General Election unfolded.

The social media platform said a total of 110,000 conversations took place on Friday (Sept 11) and through the night.

Chatter on Twitter hit a high of 330 tweets per minute at around 12.30am on Saturday, which coincided with a period when the bulk of the election results were being announced.

One of the top tweets of the night belonged to local humour site SGAG, who poked fun at Returning Officer Ng Wai Choong's resemblance to a popular South Korean television show host.
