Teenage girl, 14, shot dead in US after quarrel that started on Facebook

A 14-year-old girl in the United States was shot dead after a quarrel that started on Facebook.

CNN reported that Kierra'onna Rice had a spat with other girls on Facebook. She later decided to meet the girls at a park for a fight, and to record footage of it. When the fight started, however, two males took out guns and shot at the girls. Ms Rice died, while two others were wounded.

Alabama-based news site AL.com reported that police responded to reports of a shooting on Feb 27 at about 6.15 pm. The report said that according to Lieutenant Sean Edwards of the Birmingham Police, there was nothing to indicate that the shooting was planned. It is not known whether the two men knew the girls.

"This was an absolutely senseless killing," he was quoted as saying.

Police arrested two suspects aged 17 and 19, who were identified as the shooters, according to both news agencies.
