PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The 22-year-old who went on a rampage in California, stabbing three people to death and shooting another three before turning the gun on himself, has written about his childhood trips to Penang with his Malaysian mother Ong Li Chin Rodger.

In a 140-page document, Elliot Rodger recounted the time when he and his family came for a holiday in Malaysia after his third birthday and again when he was 13, which he "enjoyed very much."

Elliot's father is Hollywood assistant director Peter Rodger who helped direct Hunger Games.

"Sometime after my third birthday, we all went on a vacation to Malaysia, my mother's home country.

"I have only flashes of memory of that vacation. I enjoyed it very much. We visited a few of my mother's relatives," he wrote in the document which he sent to several people, including his parents and therapist shortly before going on the rampage on Friday, killing the six people aged 19 to 22.

On his 13th birthday, Elliot said his mother took him and his younger sister Georgia to Malaysia again.

In Penang, he said they met up with several relatives including his grandmother, Ah Mah.

"We met up with Ah Mah, my mother's sister Min and her husband Jack and cousin Emma. They were also visiting Malaysia from England."

"During the trip, we toured the island of Penang, visited George Town, went to a fun water park and had very delicious meals at many exotic restaurants," he said.

Elliot said the vacation was so nice that he did not miss his life in the United States, where the family had moved to from Britain.

Media accounts revealed a young man who lived a comfortable life but was troubled by loneliness and rejection by women.

He was also known to have Asperger Syndrome, which affects communication and social interaction.

In the document titled "My Twisted World - The Story of Elliot Rodger", the London-born Elliot spoke about his childhood and his family.

According to the document that is being circulated on the Internet, his mother had gone to England to work as a nurse on several film sets.

"She became friends with important individuals in the film industry including George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. She even dated George Lucas for a short time," he wrote.

His mother was 30 when she gave birth to him, he said.

Shortly after his seventh birthday, Elliot said his parents divorced.

"I was absolutely shocked, outraged, and above all, overwhelmed. This was a huge life-changing event."

Apparently, his mother had told him just a few months earlier that there would be no divorce.

Towards the end of his write-up, murder was on his mind.

Women, he said, must be punished for rejecting a gentleman like him.

Chillingly, he spoke about a day of retribution.
