FBI probed ISIS 'sympathies' of gunman shot dead at Texas anti-Islam event
One of the men shot dead by police when he and an accomplice attempted to storm an event hosted by an anti-Muslim group in Texas was sentenced to three years' probation in 2011 for lying to US federal agents investigating his alleged extremist sympathies, it emerged Monday.
Investigators were delving into the backgrounds of the two suspected Islamist gunmen - they were roommates, The Los Angeles Times reported - who opened fire with assault rifles outside Sunday's controversial exhibit of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.
A quick-acting traffic policeman shot the two suspects before they were able to enter the venue in Garland, a suburb of Dallas.

Nepal earthquake: About 100 bodies found in Langtang trekking village
Nepali police and local volunteers found the bodies of about 100 trekkers and villagers buried in an avalanche set off by last month's devastating earthquake and were digging through snow and ice for signs of dozens more missing, officials said on Monday.
The government began asking foreign teams to wrap up search and rescue operations, as hope of finding people alive in the rubble receded.
"They can leave. If they are also specialists in clearing the rubble, they can stay," Rameshwor Dangal, an official at Nepal's home ministry, said on Monday.

Cannons and bells ring out for baby Princess Charlotte, military band plays Isn't She Lovely
The sound of gun salutes and pealing bells rang out over London as Prince William and his wife Kate announced Monday that their new baby princess will be called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Britain had been on tenterhooks waiting to discover what names the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would give their little princess, who was born on Saturday and is fourth in line to the throne.
The names were interpreted as a tribute to both sides of the family.

French fashion house Chanel looked to traditional South Korean dress for its 2015/2016 cruise collection, unveiling a colourful inter-seasonal line at a catwalk show in Seoul on Monday.
Cruise collections, originally designed for wealthy fashionistas holidaying on yachts or cruises during the winter months, are lines produced by stylists in addition to twice-yearly seasonal collections.
Models strutted in round-shouldered jackets with large sleeves, wide trousers and just over-the-knee skirts, in a nod to the brand's staple of suits.

Basketball: Golden State's Stephen Curry named NBA Most Valuable Player
Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry on Monday was named the NBA Most Valuable Player for the 2014-15 season.
Curry earned 1,198 points in balloting for the award, including 100 of 130 first-place votes, the National Basketball Association said in a statement.
A panel of 129 sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada cast ballots, as did fans in an NBA.com vote. The fan vote counts as one ballot toward determining a winner.
