Prince William and Kate show off newborn princess
Cradled in her mother's arms, Britain's new sleeping princess was welcomed into the outside world Saturday with joyous cheers, a forest of camera phones and a sea of flags.
It was both a traditional and very 21st-century moment as Prince William and his wife Kate emerged from the Lindo Wing doors at St Mary's Hospital in London.
Several hundred cheering well-wishers crammed behind barricades on the streets around the private hospital wing, screaming with delight as the beaming couple emerged.
Wearing a lemon and white floral summery dress, a smiling Kate cradled her daughter in her right arm, the baby wrapped in a white blanket and wearing a white bonnet.

Thousands rally in Baltimore over Freddie Gray death
Thousands of people called for justice in Baltimore on Saturday in new demonstrations a day after six police were charged over the death of an African-American man in their custody.
Many cheered the surprise convictions of the officers - three of them black. They face a range of charges, including second-degree murder and manslaughter.
The Maryland National Guard said on Twitter it had nearly 3,000 soldiers and airmen ready to help "keep the peace" in the city.
But in contrast to the violence and looting that flared after Freddie Gray's funeral on Monday, there was a festive atmosphere in Baltimore, as demonstrators - white and black - gathered at City Hall, the focal point of rallies in recent days.

Last MH17 crash remains arrive in Netherlands
A flight carrying the last remains of Dutch victims killed in last year's MH17 plane crash in rebel-held territory in eastern Ukraine arrived in the Netherlands on Saturday.
The Dutch air force C-130 plane landed shortly before 4pm (10pm Singapore time) at the Eindhoven air force base carrying seven coffins, live video on Dutch news website nu.nl showed.
All 298 passengers and crew on board the Malaysia Airlines jetliner - the majority of them Dutch - died when the plane was shot down on July 17 last year.
