Nepal recovers more human remains from US chopper crash site

KATHMANDU (REUTERS) - Nepal has found more human remains at the site where a US military helicopter crashed during a mission to aid victims of the country's earthquake, the army said on Wednesday.

The recovery was made on May 25, 10 days after the bodies of six US Marines and two Nepali soldiers were found among the wreckage of the aircraft in mountains northeast of the capital Kathmandu.

Nepali media said five people from earthquake-devastated villages in Dolakha district had gone missing after being taken aboard an aid helicopter. It was not known which aircraft they had boarded. READ MORE HERE

Vatican official investigated for embezzlement: Reports

ROME (AFP) - Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, a Vatican official, is under investigation by Italian prosecutors on suspicion of embezzlement and price fixing during the sale of an historic castle, according to media reports Wednesday.

The sale of the San Girolamo castle in central Italy has already led to the arrest of two employees of the diocese of Terni where Paglia, who is president of the Holy See's council for family matters, was bishop.

Now prosecutors are probing Paglia on allegations of criminal conspiracy and fraud in relation to the sale of the castle four years ago to real estate company IMI immobiliare, which was headed by one of the arrested diocese employees. READ MORE HERE

Football: Blatter says corrupt officials to be booted out

ZURICH (AFP) - Fifa president Sepp Blatter admitted Wednesday football's world body faces a "difficult time" because of a major corruption storm but vowed any officials found guilty would be expelled from the sport.

Blatter gave his first reaction to the arrest of seven officials in Zurich as part of a US corruption probe with Fifa provisionally banning 11 people over their alleged involvement in the scandal.

"This is a difficult time for football, the fans and for Fifa as an organisation. We understand the disappointment that many have expressed and I know that the events of today will impact the way in which many people view us," Blatter said in a statement. READ MORE HERE

U2 tour manager found dead in Los Angeles hotel after show

LOS ANGELES (REUTERS) - Irish rockers U2 said on Wednesday their longtime tour manager, Dennis Sheehan, died in Los Angeles where the band is performing part of its latest tour.

The Los Angeles County Coroner said Sheehan, 68, died Wednesday morning of natural causes at a hotel in West Hollywood.

Sheehan's death came hours after the first concert Tuesday night of a five-show run at The Forum in Los Angeles, part of a 20-city tour. READ MORE HERE

Wearable fitness tracker maker Fitbit sued by rival Jawbone: NYT

(REUTERS) - Wearable fitness tracking device maker Fitbit Inc is being sued by rival Jawbone, which accused Fitbit of "plundering" confidential data, the New York Times reported.

Jawbone accused Fitbit of "systematically plundering"confidential information by poaching employees who improperly downloaded sensitive materials shortly before leaving, the Times reported on Wednesday.

According to the complaint filed in California State Court, Fitbit recruiters contacted nearly a third of Jawbone's employees early this year, some of whom left after downloading information like Jawbone's current and future business plans and products, the newspaper reported. READ MORE HERE
