More than 10,000 extremists killed in coalition raids: US
More than 10,000 jihadists have been killed in air strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria group over a nine-month coalition campaign, US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday.
"We have seen enormous losses from Daesh (ISIS), more than 10,000 since the beginning of the campaign and this will end up having an impact," Blinken told French radio, without specifying whether the losses were in Iraq or Syria.

US Defence Secretary Carter signs defence projects with India
US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter Wednesday finalised agreements with India to jointly develop next-generation chemical and biological protection for troops and military mobile hybrid power sources.
Carter met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and signed a 10-year strategic defence framework pact, which was agreed to during President Obama's visit to New Delhi in January.
The Pentagon chief also met his counterpart Manohar Parrikar and finalised the defence project agreements for the joint development of "mobile electric hybrid power sources and next generation protective ensembles."

Facebook COO says mourning over husband left her '30 years sadder'
Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg took to the social media site on Wednesday to say she felt 30 years sadder after the 30-day mourning period she observed following her husband's sudden death.
Sandberg's husband, SurveyMonkey Chief Executive Dave Goldberg, died on May 1 after falling off a treadmill during a vacation in Mexico.
Sandberg posted an online tribute four days after the death of Goldberg, who built a company valued at $2 billion. She has also periodically shared posts about her mourning and pictures of Goldberg.

Tennis: Murray sets up Djokovic clash in French Open semis
Andy Murray beat David Ferrer 7-6 (7/4), 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, in the French Open quarter-finals on Wednesday to set up a last-four showdown with Novak Djokovic.
Third seed Murray made it 15 consecutive wins on clay this year by beating the number seven seed Ferrer and make it a disappointing day all round for Spain following nine-time champion Rafael Nadal's defeat to number one seed Djokovic earlier.
Murray becomes the first British player to reach the semi-finals at Roland Garros on three separate occasions having previously been knocked out in the last four in 2011 and 2014.

Football: Blazer details corruption in 1998, 2010 World Cup host bids
Chuck Blazer admitted in court testimony released Wednesday he conspired with fellow FIFA executives to accept bribes during the process to choose hosts for the 1998 and 2010 World Cups.
The bearded multimillionaire, the face of North American soccer for two decades, pleaded guilty to racketeering, part of a massive US corruption case targeting world football's governing body.
Blazer's testimony is a key plank in the US investigation against FIFA, which the federal court document describes as a "Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organisation".
