15,000 people displaced after Boko Haram raid in NE Nigeria: official

MAIDUGURI, NIGERIA (AFP) - A massive assault by Boko Haram over the weekend on the northeast Nigeria town of Damboa displaced more than 15,000 people, a rescue official said Monday.

Abdulkadir Ibrahim of the National Emergency Management Agency told journalists that 10,204 people fled to the town of Biu, 2,000 ran to Goniri and 3,000 have sought refuge in the state capital Maiduguri, following the attack that is believed to have killed scores.
