Newly-crowned Wimbledon women's doubles champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci have become the first players to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore tournament from Oct 17-26.

This is the third straight year the Italian world No. 1 doubles pair have made the cut for the prestigious season-finale, which will be held at the Singapore Sports Hub.

They both reclaimed the top spot on the world rankings after winning Wimbledon, becoming the fifth team in the Open era to win all four Major titles. They also won the Australia Open (2013, 2014), Roland Garros (2012) and US Open (2012).

Seven other doubles pairs will qualify to compete in the year-end tournament, while the season's top eight singles players will also be part of the US$6.5 million (S$8.1 million) tournament.

Singapore is hosting the first of five editions from this year, in an expanded 10-day sport extravaganza that will feature past, present and future stars of the women's Tour.
