The kings and queens of swimming were crowned on the final day of the 55th Schools National Swimming Championships held at Singapore Sports School (SSP).

Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) made a clean sweep of the A, B and C Division boys' titles for the first time, while Raffles Girls' School (RGS) and Raffles Institution (RI) continued their dominance of the girls' titles.

"We've had many hits and misses in the past, I think this is a dream come true for us," said ACS (I) B Division captain Kevin Ong, 16.

For RI's A Division girls' captain Kathleen Leong, the domination was not foreign, but she was happy that her team-mates and juniors were able to continue the school's winning legacy.

She said: "I'm very proud of the swimmers for giving it their best despite their busy schedules, and for stepping up their training efforts even more when the competition drew closer."

The swimming finals, which were held on Tuesday and Wednesday, saw a total of 19 meet records rewritten.

Among the record-breakers were Tan Jing-E of Methodist Girls' School, Quah Zheng Wen of ACS (I) and Pawapotako Phiangkhwan of SSP, who left the meet with two individual records apiece.
