Sembawang GRC MP Ellen Lee was unveiled as outgoing Singapore Table Tennis Association president Lee Bee Wah's choice of successor on Monday afternoon.

Incumbent Ms Lee, who was elected in 2008, is eligible for another two-year term, but has decided to step down. With her at the helm, the Singapore table tennis team won a silver and two bronzes at the last two Olympic Games.

Candidate Lee, a lawyer, will be assisted by fellow MP Alex Yam, who is running for the position of deputy president. Both had already been attending STTA meetings.

The elections will be held at the STTA biennial general meeting on Sept 6.
