Singapore paddler Feng Tianwei claimed the women's single title at the International Table Tennis Federation Japan Open Sunday afternoon, beating home favourite Kasumi Ishikawa for the title.
The world No. 4 held her nerve for a 12-10, 9-11, 3-11, 11-3, 11-5, 13-11 win over her No. 9 counterpart.
This is Feng's third title out of four finals so far this year, adding onto her Australia and Philippines titles. But while her first two wins of the year were from Challenge-level tournaments, the Japan event is a higher-tier Super Series competition.
Team-mate Yu Mengyu also performed well, finishing among the top four but lost out to Ishikawa for a place in the final.
The Singaporean pair also teamed up in the women's doubles event to finish runner-up, losing 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-13 to Japan's Ai Fukuhara and Misako Wakamiya.
