LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Six-time Olympic swimming champion Amy Van Dyken Rouen was moved out of intensive care on Sunday, nine days after her spinal cord was severed in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

"FINALLY out of ICU!" Van Dyken wrote in posting a picture of the view from the window of her hospital room on Instagram.

"Now I have an amazing view." Van Dyken, 41, the wife of former National Football League player Tom Rouen, was launched over a curb while driving the vehicle in a parking lot on June 6.

She lost feeling in her legs and her husband has told the Denver Post she doesn't know if she will walk again.

From the hospital the irrepressible Van Dyken has been using social media to offer her fans updates on her condition, including confirming she remained paralyzed despite a rumor to the contrary.

Van Dyken won four gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, taking titles in the 50m freestyle, 100 butterfly and two relays, then added two more relay golds four years later in Sydney.
