Swimming: Olympic swim champ Van Dyken out of intensive care

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Six-time Olympic swimming champion Amy Van Dyken Rouen was moved out of intensive care on Sunday, nine days after her spinal cord was severed in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

“FINALLY out of ICU!” Van Dyken wrote in posting a picture of the view from the window of her hospital room on Instagram.

“Now I have an amazing view.” Van Dyken, 41, the wife of former National Football League player Tom Rouen, was launched over a curb while driving the vehicle in a parking lot on June 6.

She lost feeling in her legs and her husband has told the Denver Post she doesn’t know if she will walk again.
