SINGAPORE - The 28th SEA Games in Singapore will kick off with a kaleidoscope of visual treats at its Opening Ceremony on June 5.
All spectators inside the 55,000-seater National Stadium will be given special LED medallions which will be activated by organisers to form a giant collective display.
Audiences, including the hundreds of millions of television viewers across the region, will be entertained by flying performers and props supported by an aerial system, as well as a massive high-definition floor projection created by 160 multimedia projectors.
Close to 5,000 performers and volunteers will be involved in the extravaganza, more than previous National Day Parades. About 3,500 soldiers from the Singapore Armed Forces' Artillery Formation will also be involved in the Ceremonies.
Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee Executive Committee (Singsoc Exco) creative director Beatrice Chia-Richmond said: "The 28th SEA Games will be a proud moment for us, as it will see the coming together of people from 11 different South-east Asian nations. SEA is close in proximity, but very diverse in cultures. This region is full of extraordinary people and this inspired us in our quest to celebrate the spirit of the Games.
"The Ceremonies aim to truly demonstrate the 28th SEA Games theme to the region, and we hope that it will pave the way for everyone to celebrate triumph of the human spirit - be it in sport or daily life."
Tickets for the opening ceremony cost between $12 and $60 with concession prices available. Prices for the closing ceremony on June 16 range from $12 to $40. Priority sale tickets, for those who had registered their interest last year, begin today.

The biennial SEA Games will be held in Singapore from June 5-16 - the first time since 1993 that the Republic has played host to the region's biggest multi-sport competition.
