OCBC Bank is on the hunt for a new event organiser to run next year's OCBC Cycle in Singapore and Malaysia, in a bid to refresh the popular road cycling event.

The local bank began calling for tenders on Monday, and interested parties must submit their bids by Aug 6. The winning bid will replace Spectrum Worldwide, the previous event organiser who ran OCBC Cycle Singapore and OCBC Cycle Malaysia. The partnership between OCBC and Spectrum was terminated recently after six years.

The revamped OCBC Cycle in Singapore will likely incorporate the new Singapore Sports Hub, a venue the homegrown bank is already well associated with after getting naming rights to venues such as the OCBC Aquatic Centre and OCBC Arena.

OCBC has become synonymous with cycling in Singapore in recent years. Besides backing the cycling event for the past six years, it also sponsors the OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling team and the national road cycling championships. Last year's OCBC Cycle Singapore also attracted about 11,500 cyclists. The event has also clinched awards such as the Singapore Sports Awards' Best Local Sports Event (2012) and and the Best International Sports Event earlier this year.
