There were few surprises at the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA)'s annual Keppel-STTA Awards night on Thursday, with Feng Tianwei picking up the Player of the Year award for the fifth time.

The world No. 5 paddler was lauded for a 2014 season where she picked up three women's singles title on the International Table Tennis Federation professional circuit - the Japan Open, Australia Open and Philippines Open. Feng received a $10,000 cash prize for the award.

Women's team head coach Jing Junhong was named the Coach of the Year, having led her charges through a busy year that included two major Games. The women's team picked up six golds at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, as well as three bronzes at the Asian Games in South Korea. Jing, a former national paddler herself, also won the accolade last year.

Up-and-coming player Lin Ye from the women's team won the Young Player of the Year award, after her world ranking rose from No. 65 at the start of the year to No. 48 by December. She won a bronze medal in the women's singles at the Commonwealth Games.

The women's team, made up of Feng, Yu Mengyu, Isabelle Li and Yee Herng Hwee, was named Team of the Year. They finished joint third at the world championships and were responsible for a bronze at the Asian Games.

Other paddlers who were recognised include Clarence Chew (Young Achiever of the Year) as well as men's doubles pair Gao Ning and Li Hu (Sports Excellence Award).

A total of $33,000 in cash awards was given out at the event, held at the Orchid Country Club.

The STTA also announced a two-year extension of its partnership with Keppel for the annual awards.
