Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean stepped down as president of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) on Monday evening, a post he had held since 1998.
DPM Teo was succeeded by Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin at the SNOC's annual general meeting, which was held at the Swissotel Merchant Court.
Mr Tan was co-opted as a member of the SNOC's executive committee in April last year.
Said Mr Teo in his address: "I thank every one of you very much for your support, for the privilege of knowing you and working with you to take sports to a higher level for Singapore."
The AGM also saw three of the four vice-presidents retain their positions - Mr Low Teo Ping, Ms Annabel Pennefather, and Mr Tan Eng Liang. Mr Ng Ser Miang did not run for the post, with Singapore Bowling Federation president Mrs Jessie Phua taking the fourth and final spot.
