Commonwealth Games: No medals for Gai Bin as he finishes 4th in final event

SINGAPORE'S Gai Bin, the most successful shooter at the 2010 Commonwealth Games with seven medals including three golds, will return home empty-handed from Glasgow 2014.

The 46-year-old could only manage fourth spot in his final event, the men's 50m pistol, at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre on Monday. Compatriot Poh Lip Meng, 45, finished sixth.

Gai had claimed a silver in the same event in New Delhi four years ago. On Saturday, he failed to make it out of the 10m air pistol preliminaries.

The Republic's only medal from the sport so far came from Teo Shun Xie's surprise gold in the women's 10m air pistol.
